On July 1, 2021, the National VI emission standards for diesel vehicles will be fully implemented

2022-12-30

On July 1, 2021, the National VI emission standards for diesel vehicles will be fully implemented. Now just over a year later, there is news in the industry that the "National VII" will be implemented. Many car users are also very concerned about this. When will the country seven be implemented? What is the standard?

1.  National VII is on the agenda, and there are different opinions on the implementation time

On December 28 last year, the State Council issued the "14th Five-Year Plan" comprehensive work plan for energy conservation and emission reduction, which mentioned that it will study and formulate emission standards for light-duty vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles in the next stage. In this regard, many people in the industry believe that the next stage of emission standards mentioned in the plan is the so-called National VII standard, which indicates that the National VII has been officially put on the agenda.

However, the specific implementation time was not mentioned in the plan, and there are different opinions in the industry, but there are currently two views, one is that it will be in 2025 or earlier, and the other is that it may be in 2028 or later.

Judging from the timetable, most of the iteration cycles of diesel vehicle emission standards in my country are between 4-5 years. The implementation time of the Seven Kingdoms should be around 2025.

There are also more radical views that the National VII standards are likely to be earlier than 2025, because with the continuous promotion of the dual carbon goals and the early release of the "Euro VII" standards in November this year, emissions may be accelerated The standard iterative rhythm allows the National VII to arrive ahead of schedule.

Of course, some people think that the National VII should be determined in 2028 or later, so that enterprises can have more time to tackle difficult problems and better develop new products.

In addition to the objective factor of time needed for technological breakthroughs, these people also believe that the emission standards of the current main force for transportation, National V and National VI vehicles, are relatively stringent, and their pollution capabilities have been greatly reduced compared with previous generations. There is a premise to delay the introduction of the National VII standard to allow car companies to better develop and improve, so it is believed that the National VII may be pushed to 2028 or later.

2.  National VII standards may be extremely strict, challenging the limits of internal combustion engines

Although there are different opinions on the launch time of China VII, people in the industry agree that the stringency of China VII standards is unprecedented, because domestic standards have been benchmarking against European standards, especially in terms of technical requirements, which are sometimes more stringent than European and American countries. Strict, and currently, the Euro 7 standard proposal has been released, and its strict standards are obvious to all:

One is to reduce the nitrous oxide emission limit of diesel engines from 80 mg per kilometer to 60 mg per kilometer, which is in line with the "Euro VII" emission standard limit for gasoline engines;

Second, compared with "Euro VI", "Euro VII" will reduce the nitrogen oxide emissions of medium and heavy trucks by 56%;

The third is that the proposal points out that the adoption of Euro VII trucks will be supervised for a longer period of time, and their compliance will be checked for a long time until these vehicles reach 200,000 kilometers and are over 10 years old. This is almost double the requirements of the Euro VI emission standard (100,000 km and 5 years);

In addition, Euro VII also proposed for the first time the air pollution caused by brakes and tires, and included nitrogen monoxide emissions in the emission standards for the first time. Euro VII has the most stringent requirements on engine emissions and compliance in history. If there is no accident according to past experience, the stringency of the Euro VII standard will only increase, and it will be closer to the limit of internal combustion engines.

3.  The implementation of National VII should not be too early, so as to give car companies and drivers more time

Although it is necessary to raise emission standards to reduce diesel vehicle pollution, it is also valuable to refer to foreign standards to formulate and implement domestic standards, but in terms of time of introduction, iteration cycle, and technical requirements, we should not blindly benchmark and comprehensively beyond.

After all, China lags far behind Europe and the United States in terms of technical reserves and the basis of the automobile industry. In the past 20 years, China has completed 6 emissions upgrades for diesel vehicles. Although the pollution has been greatly reduced, the price paid is relatively high.

Regarding the National VII standard, it is true that enough time should be left for domestic car companies and parts companies to develop more mature products. Reduce the economic pressure of card friends.

China VII is bound to come, the time may be earlier than expected, and the standards will be more stringent. For ordinary card users, they are more concerned about whether the technology will be mature, whether the purchase cost will be high, and whether the maintenance will be expensive, etc., but until that moment, no one can say for sure.

At present, what card lovers can grasp is that if the car can be driven, try not to change the car. If you really want to change the car, try to choose the National VI or new energy, so as to avoid the future restrictions on vehicles after the introduction of the National VII.
